صيد الأسماك في مصر يعد من الهوايات التي أصبحت تلاقي اهتماماً كبيراً. والمدهش أن الفئة العمرية لهواة الصيد أصبحت تمتد إلى سن الشباب المبكر ومنتصف العمر بعد أن كانت في الماضي يغلب عليها كبار السن. ويعتبر صيد المياه المالحة في مصر ذا نكهة خاصة ويتميز على الصيد النهري بعدة ميزات، منها حجم الأسماك حيث أن من بينها أسماك ضخمة وأسماك كبيرة الحجم.

    Giant trevally is often fished for and caught by poppering (casting of a tuble-like lure with concave front that splashes on the surface, resembling sick fish action (SFA), and/or imitating calamari or surface squid)Once the GT (giant trevally) spots the lure, it pops up to the surface in a swift action, picks the lure, then dives back instantaneously. The action of diving must be very well observed by the fisherman to avoid breakage of the monofilament of the braided line. The reel drag must be preset to the desired tension.
